I ran in Perth once, and there was signs along the path saying 'Take care venomous snakes seen in this area.' That was a bit worrying. Certainly made me run fucking quicker.

Just carry a knife and make sure you don't leave any prints or trace at the scene.
Will be dark and any would be villain will try to rape you in a secluded spot and so there won't be any witnesses anyway.
